What is LOVEJOY?
|
Lovejoy is one of only three exemplary school districts in north Texas. There is a saying that it takes a village to raise a child. Creating a community that can raise their children collectively takes a very vivid vision and an active populous of families that are willing to sacrifice their personal time and money to make it happen. You may have noticed through your interaction with people at work, church, and even on athletic teams that not every group is able to accomplish the result they have in mind because it takes strong leadership and a large mass of people who are willing to follow. Lovejoy ISD is comprised of parts of Allen, Fairview, Lucas and McKinney; all cities that have seen exponential growth as a result of the booming Texas economy. Despite the amount of growth in recent years this once quiet community has been able to retain the charm of its small towns as they grow into cities. The passion to retain a small town feel is clearly demonstrated by the Fairview city council slogan of “Keeping’ it Country”. However the growing population is bringing many of the conveniences of lager cities. Among the new developments to serve this area is The Village at Allen; one of the largest open air mixed use shopping centers in the state of Texas which is located mere minutes away. Although more amenities of city life are coming to Lovejoy just about all residents will continue to enjoy living on country estates. |

Unique Benefits of LISDLovejoy ISD is unique to its surrounding school districts in a myriad of ways. Physically, it stretches primarily across Lucas and Fairview. Both towns require a minimum of 1-2 acres per house, ensuring you a low density of housing per square mile, protecting your current and future property values, and maintaining a "country feel." Fairview's motto is "Keepin' It Country." This old fashioned ideal carries over into your everyday life. Neighbors are no longer just inhabitants next door, but also walking buddies and friends you wave to as you pass by. Additionally, parents contribute in many ways to Lovejoy School District, investing their time by volunteering around the school, tutoring kids in the Academic Center and building sets for the Lovejoy Drama department, consistently amazing the Lovejoy staff with their contributions. Because of lower density housing, your child would graduate in much smaller class sizes, making them a part of a family, not just a student body. Lovejoy High School established a program, called the LEAP group, in which, students meet with their specified group of peers numerous times through the year. These students remain in the same group throughout high school as a means to create a support group for each other and encourage unity between the student body. The district also requires all students to take a minimum of pre-AP classes, aiming to be an intellectually elite student body. Dr. Mike Goddard, principal of Lovejoy High School, encourages his students to stay true to the "Lovejoy Graduate Profile," encouraging students to not only be "intellectually equipped," but also involving themselves in community service and becoming "well-rounded individuals." This only scratches the surface of the benefits Lovejoy has to offer your family.
